Summer Camp:
Don’t know what to do with your children over school
vacation? Avalon Farm has riding camps offered in conjunction with school
holidays. Students attend camp Monday-Friday from 9:00-1:00, and spend
both time in the saddle and in the barn learning horsemanship skills.
Students are also encouraged to attend our regular summer camp, offered
in weekly sessions throughout July and August. All of our camps are
designed to familiarize our students with all aspects of horses, learning
to tack up their mounts, fine tuning their riding skills, or caring for
their horses. Space is limited, so reserve your week early.
Every day, students are broken up into groups of five children or less for their riding lesson. Campers then practice their groundwork, learning how to handle their mounts. Different days are set aside for different activities; for example, pamper your horse day might have campers giving their horses bubble baths and baking them horse cookies. Some days will feature a guest lecturer, such as our blacksmith, and other days will be more arts and crafts oriented.
Camp will start at 9:00am and finish at 1:00pm. Campers should not be dropped off before 8:45am and need to be picked up promptly at 1:00pm. Camp runs Monday through Friday. Each day will consist of riding time, lecture and/or activities and a lunch break. Campers will be responsible for grooming and tacking their horses before they ride and putting their horses away when finished. Campers should bring a lunch with them and plenty of water.
Space is limited, so reserve your week early.
